SAN Configuration and Data Migration/Replication Resource

Project Name: The Data Center Colocation and Migration Project

TASKS & DUTIES:
  • Extending the SAN fabric from 15 Metrotech to 11 Metrotech.
  • Designing and configuring, the SAN components, and working with multiple storage platforms such as NetApp, Hitachi, and IBM.
  • Work closely with IT teams, business units, vendors, and partners to collect requirements, and keep all parties informed throughout the process.
  • Prepare the new SAN environment by setting up LUNs, creating storage groups, configuring zoning, and ensuring all connections are in place.
  • Execute the migration using proven tools and techniques to maintain data integrity and reduce downtime as much as possible.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • 4 years’ experience in planning and executing large-scale SAN-based data migrations, including LUN migrations, storage consolidations, replication cutovers, and multi-vendor storage transitions.
  • 4 years’ experience designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery storage solutions using Hitachi replication (local and remote), SAN virtualization, and multi-site fabric architectures.
  • 4 years’ experience managing migration planning activities including stakeholder coordination, scope definition, reporting requirements, risk mitigation, and change management within enterprise data center projects.
  • 4 years’ experience providing post-migration stabilization and Hyper Care support, including performance troubleshooting, connectivity validation, and resolution of storage and fabric-related issues.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Brocade Fibre Channel fabrics, including zoning (single initiator best practice), ISL trunking, fabric merges, and performance optimization across large switch environments.
  • Proficiency in multi-vendor SAN consolidation, including integration of Hitachi, NetApp, IBM, and Pure storage arrays, along with data mobility using replication and virtualization tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in resolving complex SAN issues including latency, pathing failures, replication lag, zoning conflicts, and storage performance bottlenecks in production environments.
