System Engineer

Our team provides agile software development and maintenance for CODIS, a mission-critical application for the FBI. CODIS is a client server application developed using Microsoft .NET that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons. CODIS software allows local, state, and national laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, thereby linking serial crimes to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes to individuals’ profiles.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement and manage multi-server deployments in virtual environments
  • Set up and manage Windows applications
  • Customer support
  • Install and maintain client workstations, including installation and configuration of third-party applications
  • Maintain images locally and in AWS for servers and workstations
  • Maximize network security by monitoring patching processes and improving as necessary
  • Occasional need for off-hours support for system upgrades, patches and maintenance activities
  • Strong AWS administration

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • US Citizen and active Secret clearance
  • Current AWS Certification (AWS SysOps preferred)
  • Current Security + certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • System Administration experience
  • Experience with Active Directory Management and group policies
  • Helpdesk support for issues
  • Strong attention to detail and solid troubleshooting ability
  • Install and maintain client workstations, including installation and configuration of third-party applications
  • Proficiency in scripting language(s), PowerShell preferred
  • Implement and manage multi-server deployments in virtual environments via PowerShell / AWS CLI scripting
  • AWS console administration for EC2, IAM, VPC, and AMIs
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with security settings implementation
  • Create and maintain virtual images locally and in AWS for servers and workstations
  • Occasional need for off-hours support for system upgrades, patches and maintenance activities

DESIRED SKILLS
Knowledge and experience of typical build and release management processes, including continuous integration platforms such as TeamCity
  • Experience in Agile SDLC, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
  • Previous experience working in a software development shop
  • Knowledge of security monitoring/scanning tools and their usage.
