Our team provides focused agile software development and maintenance for CODIS, a mission-critical application for the FBI. Today, CODIS is a client server application developed using Microsoft .NET that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons. CODIS software allows local, state, and national laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, thereby linking serial crimes to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes to individuals’ profiles. Additionally, the CODIS software is used to assist with the identification of unidentified human remains, missing persons and disaster victims
The Software Developer Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides technical and management leadership for highly complex software development initiatives. This role is responsible for establishing goals, defining strategies, and delivering mission-critical solutions. The SME applies deep domain expertise to guide project staff, provide strategic advice, and develop innovative software solutions that meet rigorous performance, security, and usability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of new software applications and enhancements to existing systems.
Define requirements and ensure alignment from project inception through delivery for highly complex programs.
Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and domain expertise to stakeholders and project teams.
Conduct detailed analysis, evaluation, and recommendations for system improvements, optimization, and maintenance.
Collaborate with clients to define business needs, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
Supervise studies, lead surveys, and analyze collected data to advise on technical and operational improvements.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues in collaboration with technical staff.
Experience leading teams in Agile or iterative development environments.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with CODIS client/server baseline applications, including standalone Popstats and CODIS Rapid Enrollment.
Experience managing cross-functional teams and high-stakes projects.
